Koko Rooloo

Saw on WX's instagram about this place. Messaged him and a few weeks later we are here for dinner.

Koko Rooloo is a small restaurant run by Koreans, located at Tanjong Pagar that sells..... Korean food!

Kimbap ($6)- Korean equivalent of sushi. But instead of seasoning the rice with vinegar, kimbap rice is seasoned with salt and sesame oil. They also sprinkled sesame seeds on the seaweed. Inside the kimbap there were pickled vegetable, carrots, smoked sausage, chives and egg omelette. It was good but I still prefer my sushi which is served colder.

Cheese Rice Cake ($12)- soft rice cake, fishcake, sweet red chilli sauce and cheese. The best rice cake I have eaten so far! Chewy and not too soft rice cake with a well balanced sauce that is not too spicy nor sour. The cheese added an extra yummy and chewy factor too. Glad we got this instead of the normal rice cake.

Beef Soup ($12)- hearty flavorful soup that was outshone by the cheese rice cake and pork kimchi. You could taste the rich flavors of beef together with the seasoning and many other ingredients that were inside the soup. Accompanied with the soup were plain rice and a fried egg.

Pork Kimchi ($22)- Pork with salty, spicy, slightly sweet but well balanced kimchi goes so well together. A perfect match. The kimchi acts like a seasoning to the pork which helps give the pork a more complex flavor. My complaint is that there's more fat than meat.

Lemon Soju ($22)- Tasted like bitter lemon except that it  has alcohol content and tastes less sweeter.

Complementary snack with a glass of beer for the three of us to share. A nice different way to end our meal.

Will definitely come back again for their rice cake and maybe I'll try to find someone who is adventurous enough to try blood sausage and silkworm with me.
